At M·A·C Cosmetics, I worked with key stakeholders and external vendors to push the design for M·A·C’s new store though the finish line.

We wanted the M·A·C Harrod’s experience to help women take a more liberated view of their beauty. Not imitative. Not prescribed. Free of the inhibition, prohibition and formalities of beauty as they know it. Free of the formalities of traditional beauty retail as they know it.

 
 
 

To blur the line between where the artistry of Harrods’ stops and the artistry of MAC begins, we chose a materiality of contrasting high/low aesthetics: polished black stone, cleft gunmetal, black glass, black mirror, and clear polycarbonate.

 
 
 

Where marble typically conveys permanence, luxury, and perhaps exclusivity, the wireframe mesh reads as transparent, permeable, and accessible.
