At Ann Taylor, I developed and cost-engineered the Spring 2018 window display to showcase the womenswear company’s newest collection.

My team and I knew we wanted to create a window scenario that would transport the viewer to another place- a vacation getaway.

We looked at the architectural details of interesting travel destinations, especially taking note of old structures that were worn by time and overtaken by nature. We realized the project was about juxtaposing lush organic forms against the structural and architectural.

The chosen design featured wood construction, but this was both costly and challenging to assemble and transport. I led a reengineering effort and proposed fabricating the structures from high-density foam with realistic wood veneer finishes. This switch not only reduced material costs significantly but also allowed us to design the components as flat-packable elements, minimizing shipping volume and on-site labor.
